A decision by the Department of Health and Human Services will mean that all women who have health insurance will be able to get birth control, (and other types of women’s health care), for free. Catholic Bishops Against Insurance Coverage for Birth Control

Earlier this month, the Institute of Medicine recommended that all forms of birth control, and contraceptive counseling, should be completely covered by health insurance plans. United States Catholic bishops and health experts are displeased about this suggestion. One of the regulations that has taken place in regards to health care reform involves preventative care. IOM Recommends Eliminating Co-Pays for Birth Control

A new report released by the Institute of Medicine recommends that birth control and contraceptive counseling should be things that are completely covered by health insurance. The expert panel considers women’s health services to be preventative medicine, and therefore, available to insured women for free, (with no co-pay required). Last year, a panel of medical and public health experts was put together.
